Philodendron Paraiso Verde Care Guide:

Philodendron Paraiso Verde care requires moist soil to keep the plant well hydrated. Use a high-quality fertilizer and provide plenty of sun. Just make sure it's not in direct sunlight. This plant has a beautiful natural growth habit so you don't need to do too much maintenance and pruning.

  • Water
Water the plant frequently but make sure the soil has enough time to dry before each session. If you decide to re-water the soil that is already wet, you will saturate the soil and the plant will suffocate. To make sure this doesn't happen, feel the soil texture with your fingers or use a moisture meter to check that the top of the soil is dry. Only then water the plants again.

The water requirements of this plant tend to vary between seasons, increasing during warm summers and decreasing during winter.

  • Soil
Proper drainage of the soil is an important part of its requirements. If the soil is waterlogged, the roots will rot and die. Thus, the texture of the soil and its ability to drain and absorb the right amount of water are important factors that you should not miss. You can use a rich, organic mix of regular growing media for this plant. Remember to keep it moist.

  • Sunlight
In terms of light, this plant needs a lot of sunlight, but not directly. You can place the plant in a well-lit room behind blinds and light curtains. But giving them direct exposure to sunlight can seriously damage the leaves. First of all, it will burn it. Second, if they are variegated plants, it will spoil the beautiful pattern. Since they are native to the tropics, they prefer shade to direct sunlight. If you're having trouble finding a suitable spot for them, you can always use shade to soften the light hitting the leaves.

  • Temperature
This plant does not have a specific temperature range, at least not a popular one. But it is evident that this tropical plant prefers warmer temperatures than cold ones. Therefore, keep this plant away from direct exposure to harsh temperature fluctuations, such as air conditioners, ventilators, and directly in front of an open window.

  • Humidity
As previously mentioned, this plant requires a minimum humidity level of 65 to 70%, and can also grow well in quantities outside this level. To ensure plants live in maximum humidity, there are several things you can do.

Indoor humidifiers make life easier for houseplant enthusiasts. You can set it up in an indoor garden and let it do its job. Otherwise, you can mist the plant regularly with distilled water in a spray bottle. Placing the plant in a pebble tray filled with water is also an effective home way to maximize the humidity around the Philodendron.

  • Fertilizer
Regular fertilization depends on the type of fertilizer used. If you are using a slow-release fertilizer, three sessions a year will suffice. Another quick release fertilizer can be applied for weeks, 6 to 8 weeks to be exact.

  • Repotting
If you see plant roots growing out of the drainage holes, it may need to be re-potted. Such occurrences usually do not occur for many years and only require re-potting every year or every few years. The best time to do this is in the spring. Avoid doing it during winter.

  • Care and Pruning
For good and healthy growth, you need to make sure that the plant is always clean and dry. Wet the plant with distilled water or Neem oil and clean it. Not only will this make your plants look shiny and bright, but it will also keep insects and pests away.
